Ten years ago she was TV’s “It” girl. Now It’s a different story. For Valerie Cherish, no price is too high to pay for clinging to the television spotlight. Lisa Kudrow stars in an all-new comedy series from the award-winning writer of Sex and the City, Michael Patrick King: The Comeback.
Valerie Cherish was once a pioneer of reality television. Now, there’s more TV than ever, and the onetime sitcom star wants back in. This November, fans of HBO’s original The Comeback will get to see Valerie do what she does best (or at least funniest!), as Lisa Kudrow returns to HBO for all-new episodes of the acclaimed series. Kudrow, the Emmy®-winning star of Friends who was nominated eight years ago for The Comeback, stars once again as the embattled Valerie Cherish, the onetime TV “It Girl” who allowed reality cameras to follow her every move as she appeared on a new sitcom, Room and Bored - with disastrous results. It’s now ten years later, and Valerie has hired a student film crew to shoot footage she hopes will get the attention of Bravo, and put her back on the map. When she discovers that her former nemesis (and fresh-out-of-rehab) Paulie G. has a new HBO show called Seeing Red based on his experiences working with her, an irate Valerie crashes the HBO offices crying defamation - but ends up getting the role based on herself. The new episodes of this “very meta” comedy series feature much of the original cast, as well as a number of celebrity guests.
